Administration - Issue Options

Project Insight allows you to set up your own issue categories and pull down menus, letting you use the terminology that your team prefers.

To do this, you need to be an administrator and navigate to administration, issues.

There you will see several options including:

  • Issue types
  • Priority types
  • Severity types
  • Status types
  • Resolution types

Issue type refers to the kind or category of problem that is occurring. Common examples include:

  • Bug
  • Feature request
  • Support
  • Internal
  • Risk

Priority type refers to the speed with which an issue should be worked on. Common examples are:

  • Low, medium, high or urgent
  • Or a numbering system such as 1, 2, 3

Severity type refers to the impact to the project or task of the problem. Common examples include:

  • Minor, Major, Critical
  • Status type refers to the stage the issue is in. Typical examples are:

Resolution type is another categorization for how the issue was completed. This is not required to be used. Or, if you do, typical samples are:

  • Resolved and unresolved

The reason to use the field is to be able to report on issues that you chose not to work on, because you may not always choose to resolve every problem that arises.
